The day we brought Cherry home

Weeks of searching, a few disappointing drive-outs, and one golden-hour pickup. Meet the 2013 Sunseeker we named Cherry — and the two of us you'll meet when you come get him.

The day we brought Cherry home

That's us in the photo — Venu and Supriya — about thirty seconds after the Sunseeker officially became ours. Golden hour, a parking lot, and a 28-foot motorhome we'd been chasing for weeks. Every rental business starts somewhere. Ours started right there.

The search

We looked at a lot of Class Cs before this one. Weeks of listings, messages, and drives out to see rigs that photographed better than they lived. A couple were rougher than their pictures — worn, tired, not something we'd hand to another family and feel good about. We walked away more than once, and each walk-away taught us what we were actually looking for: a rig that had been kept, not just used.

Then this one: a 2013 Forest River Sunseeker 2650S, one owner who'd clearly cared for it, clean inside and out. The first time we stood in it, it felt right in a way the others hadn't. Big enough for a family — rear queen bed, bunk over the cab, a dinette that turns into a bed for two more — and small enough to drive like the big SUV it basically is underneath.

Why Cherry

Happy Cherry Adventures is named after our two boys — Happy, our elder, and Cherry, our younger. The RV got Cherry's name. It was waiting for the right rig.

And "adventures" is the honest part. We bought him to share the trips we love ourselves — Rainier at sunrise, the North Cascades, the coast — the Pacific Northwest that's sitting right here around Lake Stevens, where we live.

How we run it

One rig, kept right. That's the whole model. He's sanitized before every trip, stocked with the essentials, and maintained like our own — because he is. When you book, you're not dealing with a fleet or a call center. You'll meet the two people in the photo at pickup, we'll walk you through everything until you're comfortable, and our number is the one on the site if anything comes up on the road.

Cherry's first renters are still ahead of him — this post will age — but if you're reading it while deciding, welcome. He took us weeks to find. We think he was worth it, and we hope your trip proves us right.
